This simple Tank Lorry is based on ideas from two models in the 1931 00-4 set manual.  The parts I used are all from my circa 1930 No.7 Outfit most of the parts are in excellent condition, some red parts have been re-sprayed in a correct matching dark red sadly the boiler used for the tank is in poor condition except for the ends. The main part of the model is based on a Outfit 3 Outfit Model No.3.39 but I made many improvements using more parts to fill in the  open look of the model. I did not like the crude and simple steering on the Tank Lorry and decided to use the steering from an Outfit No.4 set Model No.4.43. The Number 4 set had many more parts than the No.3 leaving scope for more ambitious construction including 2" pulleys and tyres plus the linkages used it the steering mechanism. I was inspired to make the Tank Lorry after reading an enjoyable detective story written by John Bude in 1935 "The Lake District Murder". The story centres around a local petrol delivery company, the model is how I imagined the lorry described in the story to be.
