Maldon Essex

Heritage vessels moored at Fullbridge, in the foreground is Hans a 1917 Dutch built coaster alongside her  is Sigfjell a 1914 built Norwegian coaster. In 2006 I was contacted by the original owner's son who told the vessel was originally named "DS Tou" and was built in Stavanger. The picture at the bottom of the page shows her shortly after she was built and in her original condition with a twin cylinder compound steam engine.

The red brick building in the Background is the former beer storage depot built in the 1924 for Russels Brewery of Gravesend, Kent. famous for their "Shrimp brand Beers". Cask beer was shipped here by sailing barge from the Brewery on the Riverside in Gravesend. The picture below shows carved brick shrimp motif of Russels this above the entrance to the former offices of the company. The building now used for industrial manufacturing is scheduled for demolition at some future date to make way for a residential development.

The picture above taken April 2008 shows Hans and Sigfjell from the quay viewed across the Chelmer toward Green's Flour Mill
